THERAPIES & TREATMENTS
Personalized Care and Guidance
INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY
We work one-on-one on the issues that you’re facing. They can be anything: challenges you’ve experienced, goals you’d like to achieve, or concerns related to anxiety, depression, life transitions, substance abuse, career, family relationships, and sleep problems. Together we will discover healthy coping strategies and skills that work for you.
COUPLES THERAPY
Many couples have challenges. As a skilled third party, I am able to observe, assess, and problem-solve while working together with both partners on methods and behaviors that reduce friction, deepen the relationship, and lead to greater understanding and growth.
SPECIALIZED TREATMENT PRACTICES
I utilize multiple therapeutic techniques, including talk therapy, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia), to help you achieve the goals, insights, and mindfulness you seek. A basic explanation of these treatments and applications is below.
DIALECTICAL BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (DBT)
DBT was developed in the early 90s by Marcia Linehan, Ph.D., to help individuals be mindful, learn skills to regulate their emotions, and problem-solve effectively. Today it is known to be a life-changing therapy and strategy for a range of psycho-social issues. DBT is based on four categories of skills that can provide lifelong relief and contentment: mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation. Successful DBT treatment results in the learning and practiced application of the core skills to decrease suffering and create a life worth living. To learn more, go to behavioraltech.org
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY FOR INSOMNIA (CBT-I)
If you’re having trouble sleeping, you’re not alone. CBT-I and the implementation of good “sleep hygiene” can often help you fall asleep and stay asleep. We’ll look at thoughts, feelings, and behaviors contributing to your sleep issues and examine how to reframe some of your misconceptions and challenges to encourage a restful night of sleep.
Therapy for Substance Abuse
Substance abuse is complex and can affect many aspects of a person’s life, including one's family, home, job, and community. Using a combination of DBT, harm reduction, psychoeducation, and psychodynamic psychotherapy, I work with adult individuals, couples, and families to promote recovery and healing.
